Delicious Cottage Turkey Made Easy...and Fast!

I had the opportunity to fry myself a bird last Thanksgiving and am eagerly awaiting to do it again!. The oven at the cottage where we spend Thanksgiving had been acting up for quite a while and instead of relying upon it to produce the centrepiece of our feast, I opted go the southern route and fry it.  Our turkey cooked in under an hour and boy was it yummy!

I made several first timer mistakes like having too much oil to start (I actually did do a water test and still added too much wrapped up in the excitement of it all) but the effort required vs. time spent makes this a great MadeEasy cottage cooking option.  When not cooking turkey we use the system to boil corn when large groups are over.  Lobster or Crab boils are also a big hit. We found our fryer at Bass Pro Shops and haven't had a problem with it.  You can find ours here.  This is a great video that pretty much explains all you need to know...

I cannot stress the importance of having the proper preparation AND amount of oil...
