Fireside Fun Under a Fire Ban in Cottage Country
With twice as many forest fires in Ontario (380 to date), than last year (169 to date), and well over the 10 year average (228 to date), a good part of cottage country is under a complete fire ban. That includes fires for warmth and cooking. Muskoka is categorizing the current fire danger as 'Extreme'. You may think you're SOL when it comes to fireside fun but we have some suggestions to keep up the traditions we all take for granted under normal conditions. You're BBQ is not covered under the ban so here's a trick if your still craving some s'mores...
If that's not enough fun, as the sun goes down and a chill hits the air, there is another option for you. According to the Fire Chief we spoke to this morning, propane fire pits, (located safely) can still be used under the total ban. Here's a link to purchase the one in the picture.
