Baldhead Beach still off limits to the public
The battle between cottagers and the government for access to Baldhead Beach just took a bad turn. Quintenews reports "A bombshell dropped in Consecon last night. The Federal government, along with the Canadian Wildlife Service, has decreed that there will be NO public access whatsoever to Baldhead Beach ….between Wellers Bay and Lake Ontario." Full story here. Friends of Wellers Bay commented on their facebook page "Well it seems that everytime you get new personnel at UXO, you have to start back from scatch.....very disappointing!"

The Department of National Defence has declared Baldhead Beach a “low risk” property, but it’s still off limits.
The sandspit between Welle’s Bay and Lake Ontario had previously been designated as a “high risk” area because it had been used as a practice bombing range during the second world war.
That, at least, is a step in the right direction...
