As the tournament season was starting to unfold for 2011, I must admit that the BaitMe team was getting very anxious to hit the water and find giant Lake St.Clair smallmouth. My partner and I spent two days on the water scoping out new areas and confirming old ones in preparation for the first tournament of the year. Friday of that weekend was spent near the south end of the lake near Belle River Hump. Hot weather and the humidity were almost unbearable however we were determined and focused to find some smallmouth giants. Deep, shallow, slow and fast moving baits were all experimented with and we put a pattern together by 2 pm. Mike and I were able to boat 19.5lbs in one area using dark green tubes and crank baits. That’s what I call a great day for pre-fishing! We were confident that this little gem of an area was to become our starting location on tournament day. The BaitMe smile was starting to grow.
We just bought the iFishOntario™ App and can't wait to try it this weekend! If it lives up to the hype, it should be a fun tool to have on board. According to @iFishOntario's twitter feed: "We said, Wow iFish Ontario iPhone app is ranked#7 Sports App in Canada in the first 24 hrs!" That's pretty impressive for a $4.99 app that's too new to have been rated yet. Here's what they have to say about themselves (which convinced us to try it)...

Markus' love of fishing was born of childhood summers spent camping, boating and fishing throughout Ontario with his family. His passion was put on hold when at the age of twenty he joined the Canadian military with the RCR. When deployed on operations, he laid down his fishing pole, picked up his rifle and put fishing on the back burner. Lucky for him, when he wasn't overseas, he was stationed in Petawawa, Ontario where he experienced awesome bass fishing on the Ottawa River. This is where he became ''hooked'' on tournament fishing. Since competing in that first tournament in a small aluminum boat, he has grown into a Ranger bass boat and now regularly competes in bass tournaments in Southwestern Ontario with the Tri-Bay Bass Association circuit.
